Kedves CIPP-tagok,
Most éppen tapasztalt magyarországi partnerszervezeteket keres írországi munkájához, gazdasági fejlesztés - gazdasági nehézségekkel küzdo városi régiók, munkanélküliség, kábítószer témakörében.
Javasoltam a CIPP hálózatot ill. weblapot, lehet, hogy jelentkezni fog nálatok vagy o vagy a magyar asszisztense.
Üdv

Dear Michael,
I would then suggest that you should get in touch with the CIPP-group - a group of nine NGOs of various fields that have won SF-Hungary's support to create an interactive webpage www.cipp.hu containing a heap of well structured information regarding civil society, NGOs and EU related issues.
The web page has now an English version as well.
I am sure you will be able (or rather your Hungarian assistant, Norbert - ?) to find an appropriate "thread" to further contacts in the fields you have mentioned.
I will forward this message-chain of ours to the CIPP-group as well.
Best regards,
Judit Geszti

Thanks Judit
Our focus is mainly economic development and only a small amount of background work on social problems because we co-operate with specialist NGOs and Agencies on this area.
I hit some of the links on the URL you sent me and the focus seems to be on drug abuse.
We are focused on urban areas which have very high unemployment (maybe 40%, 60% or even 80%) and working with these communities to see what can be done, for example, to:
* improve the economic situation,
* promote human empowerment, training and development
* encourage young people in particular that they can have a better life
* background awareness etc on drug and alcohol problems
I suppose the main focus is using economic development to give people the encouragement and resources to tackle these other issues
Anything you could suggest would be very beneficial
Regards
Michael

Dear Michael,
Thank you for thinking of me.
Do I understand well that you would be looking for Hungarian social NGOs active in the field of human resources / unemployment / labour market reintegration of marginalized members of society (meaning drug addicts)?
This is a complex problem in Hungary, i.e. unemployment of poorly educated youth leading straight to drug usage (often in the cheapest form) and at the extreme, falling out of any form of state social care. In Hungary, systemic change in the early nineties resulted in rapid polarization of society which lead to marginalization of a number of families (especially the Roma) the children of which now reach the adult age, facing this problem.
There is a link at the Ministry for Youth, Family and Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, enlisting most Hungarian NGOs (including web address) active in the field of prevention of drug usage and rehabilitation of drug addicts (including work therapy and the like).

The list is in Hungarian but some of the webpages might have an English version plus at the webpage, there are always some coordinates, at least an e-mail address.
Focus of Hungarian national drug policy has been set on prevention.
Drug mafia cases are strictly dealt by the police.
If your focus is rather on unemployment issues, I can look into that as well.
Please let me know if this is helpful at all, I migh have misunderstood your request.
Regards
Judit

Judit
I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the beautiful weather in Budapest. I arrived here last night fro a two week assignment
I am contacting you about a different matter than previously:
I am involved with some NGOs in Ireland who work with disadvantaged communities
Despite the success of the Celtic Tiger - it has not lifted all boats and 88 employment black spots were identified in the last census.
One of the NGOs works in these type of areas in Limerick City which now also has serious organised crime (drug) problem in these areas
We are trying to link in with NGOs and/or programs in Hungary where we would share experiences and arraignge fact finding visits/joint programs etc
Can you give me any leads or contacts which I could progress this with
Thanks for you help
Kind regards
Michael Leydon
